Google Play Books - The FREE Lead Generator!

By Eric Z follow him on Twitter HERE

The other day I visited my cousin.
He has FIVE kids, from six to 15 years old.
And each and EVERY one of them has a tablet (!), but not an iPad, an ANDROID tablet.
Seriously, if you have five kids, can you afford an iPad for each one?
What works best?
What is automatically and seamlessly integrated in Android?
GOOGLE PLAY
And for that matter, all of Google’s platform.
I watched his kids play games like crazy, most of them free, and then the light bulb went on:
If you want to reach the kids – go to Google Play!
Case in point:
My Navy Seals book is gaining traction, and without any real work or intensive marketing.

Check out the reviews, those are all organic!
34 ratings and 3 written reviews:
I didn’t solicit them or send to a list or trawl the web – nothing. I just put my book in there and waited. That’s the power of FREE.
Now the really magnificent thing about Google Play is … Google.
You see all of those reviewers?
All I have to do now is hover over their name and I get  pulldown menu: “ADD TO CIRCLES”.

⬆So I made a new circle called “Reviewers”.

Just guess who is going to get my next book for free? Or the next hot tip on a book sale?
Additionally you can see exactly what your reviewers buy in the google play store.
My friends, this is PROFOUND!
This kind of “reverse look-up” is usually a PAID feature in many other platforms and software (look at buzzsumo’s awesome tool here or Bookrazor.com).
And it’s built-in in Google.
THANK YOU GOOG!
Those are called “leads” and as budding authors we should all be collecting them.
Google’s add to circles function is a built in Lead Collector.
LESSONS LEARNED
  1. Again and again : FREE  works!
  2. Google Play works great for Kids Ebooks
Actionable Action:
DO MORE OF WHAT WORKS!

How to Build Your .mobi for KDP - Amazon

It's so simple! NO coding NO html required.
1.) Add your .docx to Calibre
2.) Generate .mobi with Calibre
3.) Drag and drop your new .mobi into your documents folder in your Kindle.
4.) Check your book in your kindle yourself:
-- check that the "go to -- Table of contents" button works in your menu.
-- CHECK your ENTIRE book now for mistakes and typos and any formatting problems  - pay special attention to non standard characters like umlauts and accents that may not render!
5.) Fix all mistakes in your MANUSCRIPT, then download as .docx and repeat the entire process again until you are satisfied.
6.) Check your .mobi on other devices if you can , iPad, KindleFire etc.
7.) Go to Step 3 - upload to KDP

Decisions, Decisions...

Decisions, Decisions.
A friend who wanted to start blogging asked me yesterday, "which platform should I use?"
I replied, "Tell me your requirements and I'll tell you what is best."

In my own experience I find Blogger much easier to use.
However there is an SEO plugin for Wordpress that everyone is batshit crazy about. I personally don't think the plugin is that great a reason to use Wordpress over blogger.
There are other reasons, for one the Big Brother scare that goog crapped on it's users last year about "deleting all adult-content blogs!" This was a criminal breach of trust that Goog (owner of blogger) should be rightly so punished for.
